The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as a R&D Engineer focused on Analog Electronics Hardware Design. You will be part of the MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department located in Ludvika, working in a team of approximately 70 employees dedicated to hardware and software design for HVDC and FACTS applications.

How you’ll make an impact
  • You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of valve electronics products, the core of HVDC systems.
  • Deep understanding of analog and/or power electronics, both theoretical and practical tasks, will be required. This includes requirement management, design specification development, and documentation.
  • You will create robust designs within cost and time limits with a product lifecycle management perspective.
  • In a modern environment that supports rapid prototyping and productification, you will manage the design through prototype testing to final system verification, taking responsibility for each step.
  • You will uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions while caring for colleagues and the business.
Your background
  • University education preferably in electrical engineering and/or power electronics; a master’s degree or higher is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience developing analog/power electronics hardware and 5+ years of experience with industry-standard schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • Proven experience in discrete analog electronics design, including transistor-level design of analog front-end/output stages, amplifiers, comparators, converters, and gate drivers. Experience in simulation, measurement techniques, and correlation of theoretical and practical domains; knowledge of EMI, EMC, grounding, and low-noise analog design on board level.
  • Proficiency in board bring-up and debugging, lab equipment for analog signal measurements, and product/system verification and environmental testing.
  • Understanding and real-world application of DFx (DFM, DFA, DFT); practical knowledge in manufacturing PCBs and PCBAs; experience with engineering best practices related to analog/power electronics design, testing, and integration.
  • Ability to prepare well-organized documentation for designs, verification/production tests, and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the electronic hardware development lifecycle and obsolescence management; experience working with multi‑functional hardware, software, and system architecture teams.
  • Optional: ability to write test software for hardware verification; experience with PLM tools; experience with reliability analysis such as MTBF, FMEA, and FTA.
