Job description

Erikshjälpen Framtidsverkstad with children and young people to create new opportunities—both for individuals and for the community. We are now seeking a program coordinator for a one-year temporary position starting in October 2026. We look forward to receiving your application!

Erikshjälpen is a child rights organisation a nonprofit secondhand business. Together, we share a common vision: a better where children’s dreams come true.

We work to combat poverty and vulnerability by promoting children's rights in 16 countries. In Sweden, children's rights work is mainly carried out through Erikshjälpen Framtidsverkstad, in close collaboration with our second-hand stores. In total, we operate around 50 Erikshjälpen Second Hand in Sweden and Norway. One of Erikshjälpen Second Hand's missions is to generate as much surplus possible for the children's rights organization Erikshjälpen.

Work in Sweden

As part of our work in Sweden, Erikshjälpen runs “Framtidsverkstad” (Future Workshops) in several locations, where we work together with children, young people, and parents to create opportunities for personal development, social mobilization, and participation in community development. By strengthening children’s and young people’s own dreams, motivations, and abilities, we foster hope for the future and lay the groundwork for long‑term, positive change. The work we do is carried out in close collaboration with municipal services, the business community, and the rest of civil society.

Description of the project

As an operations coordinator, you will be part of a team and be responsible for working with children and youth. Together with a colleague who is responsible for parent‑focused interventions, you will lead the day‑to‑day operations; the team also includes activity leaders and volunteers. You will plan, develop, and lead interventions as academic support, discussion groups, school break activities, field trips, and leadership training.

Examples of tasks
  • Create meaningful programs for children and young people by planning, implementing, and evaluating activities based on our target groups and their needs.
  • Ensure quality and results by monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the organization’s performance, impact, and costs.
  • Contributes to the development of the organization in collaboration with the unit manager.
  • Build relationships and foster engagement by establishing trusting relationships with children, youth, adults, and professionals.
  • Collaborate with schools, local governments, civil society, and the business community on social interventions.
  • Lead and support daily operations by mentoring activity leaders, volunteers, and interns.
Qualifications

You are:

  • a relationship‑builder with a deep commitment to children and young people and their opportunities for growth, particularly in areas facing socioeconomic challenges. You also have a knack for building trust and fostering a sense of inclusion.
  • You are sociable, communicative, and a team player, and you feel comfortable working in a multicultural environment.
  • self‑motivated, responsible, and enjoys working in a goal‑oriented and structured manner to develop the business and drive processes forward.

You have:

  • relevant post‑secondary education in fields such as health, education, social work, human rights, or equivalent work experience that the employer deems to be of equivalent value.
  • experience in social work with people in vulnerable situations.
  • experience in building relationships with children and young people.
  • experience working in or collaborating with the nonprofit sector and public authorities.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience with civic engagement.

Terms and conditions

Employment type: Temporary position starting October 1, 2026, through October 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Scope: 100%.

Start date: Preferably October 1, 2026, or as agreed.

Late afternoon/evening work occurs regularly and weekend work occurs a few times per semester. There is some overnight travel.
