Job description
Overview

Candela is the global leader in electric hydrofoil vessels. Since 2014, we’ve gone from building our first premium electric speedboat in a small Stockholm workshop to delivering game-changing vessels around the globe. The Candela P-12 is our latest innovation - the world’s first electric hydrofoil ferry is not just operating in Stockholm, but now attracting orders from around the world. Our boats “fly” thanks to computer-guided underwater wings under the hull made out of lightweight carbon fiber. The wings lift the vessel above the water, which results in cutting energy use by up to 80%, while offering zero emissions and a far better passenger experience than traditional diesel vessels. And that’s exactly why we do this. Our mission is clear: to speed up the transition to fossil fuel–free lakes and oceans.

You can be part of the amazing team in Candela now! Are you a technically skilled engineer with a passion for turning complex requirements into smart, customer-focused solutions? We are looking for a Product Owner / Software & System Engineer to bridge the gap between technology and business, driving both product development and technical excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Define, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog in alignment with business goals.
  • Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable work items and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate directly with sales and aftermarket to gather feedback, validate solutions, and build strong long-term customer relationships.
  • Own system design, architecture decisions, and hands-on engineering tasks where needed. Assist sourcing in software related topics towards suppliers
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (developers, designers, QA, DevOps) to deliver high-quality releases on time.
  • Continuously measure product performance, identify improvements, and adapt the roadmap accordingly.
  • Conduct risk and threat analysis together with cross-functional teams to ensure a safe and secure product
What are we looking for?

In this hybrid role, you will combine product ownership responsibilities with hands-on engineering expertise. You will work closely with customers, stakeholders, and development teams to understand needs, define product requirements, and ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions. With your strong technical background, you’ll be able to dive deep into system architecture and software design, while keeping a clear focus on business value and product strategy.

Requirements
  • Master\'s degree in Computer science or equivalent
  • Experience as a Product Owner, System Engineer, or Software Engineer in an agile environment.
  • Understanding of both technical details (embedded software, software architecture, system integration, cloud services, cyber security etc.) and business value.
  • Experience with tools like GIT, Jira/Confluence, understanding of CAN (Controller Area Network).
  • Strong communication skills and enjoys working directly with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Can prioritize effectively, balancing technical feasibility, customer needs, and business impact.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to speak fluent English is required, Swedish is a plus

Form of employment: Full-time with initial 6 month probation period
Start date: Asap
Location/base: Frihamnen
