Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Ethnology or Gender Studies, Sweden for Fellowship
The University of Gothenburg is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Ethnology or Gender Studies within the Horizon Europe project MAGnituDe, starting January 2026. The position offers a two-year full-time appointment focused on fieldwork, ethnographic research, and the study of migration, affective geopolitics, and European democracy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork and ethnographic research related to migration, affective geopolitics, and European democracy.
- Engage with feminist, queer, or intersectional theories in research and analysis.
- Contribute to ongoing MAGnituDe project activities and collaborate with international partners.
Qualifications
- Hold a doctoral degree in Ethnology, Gender Studies, or a related field, awarded within the last three years (with exceptions for parental leave or illness).
- Documented experience in ethnographic research (e.g., participant observation, qualitative interviews).
- Documented engagement with gender theories (feminist, queer, or intersectional) or cultural norm/power dynamics research.
- Oral and written proficiency in English; additional proficiency in Russian, Ukrainian, German, or Swedish is an asset.
