Uppsala University invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on dynamical systems and hydrodynamics. This is a full-time, two-year temporary position, commencing September 2025. The Department of Mathematics conducts research and provides education at undergraduate to graduate level in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. The number of employees is 120, including 30 PhD students. The Department has three research programs: analysis and probability, algebra and geometry, applied mathematics and statistics. Duties
The main task is to conduct research in dynamical systems and hydrodynamics within the project with the focus on renormalization techniques.
The work may also involve, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), other departmental duties, mainly related to teaching courses.
Requirements
PhD degree in mathematics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in mathematics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
Additional Qualifications
Expertise in computational mathematics and previous experience with renormalization in dynamical systems is an advantage, but not mandatory.
