University of Gothenburg seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study mitochondrial DNA replication using structural biology and cryo-EM. You will work in an interdisciplinary team, drive the project, and contribute to scientific publications while collaborating with national and international partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field with strong research background.
• Documented experience in structural studies of proteins or macromolecular complexes using cryo-EM.
• Experience in protein purification and protein biochemistry.
• Proficiency in English for an international research group.

Responsibilities

• Carry out structural and functional studies of protein and protein-DNA complexes involved in mitochondrial DNA replication.
• Determine structures of replication complexes using single-particle cryo-EM and analyze molecular interactions.
• Prepare and biochemically characterize protein complexes; optimize cryo-EM grids and collect data.
• Process and interpret cryo-EM data; relate findings to mechanistic models and disease-related mutations.
• Collaborate within the research group and with collaborators; work independently to drive the project.
