Job description

Overview

How fast can new climate technologies grow and what can policy realistically do to accelerate them? Join the Energy Technology and Policy group at Chalmers as a postdoctoral researcher and help develop the data‑driven foresight methods to find out.

We study how societies can transition toward sustainability using physics, systems analysis and an interdisciplinary approach. The role is based in the Energy Technology and Policy group that develops methods to evaluate the realism of energy and climate futures.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply probabilistic foresight models for policy‑driven low‑carbon technologies such as solar, wind and hydrogen.
  • Explore the meaning of uncertainty in projections and analyze the extent to which policy interventions can accelerate technological change.
  • Teach at the undergraduate level and perform other duties for up to 20% of working hours.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in energy studies, environmental science, complex systems studies, economics, public policy, political science or a related field.
  • Experience in energy transition research.
  • Strong analytical skills including quantitative modelling, data analysis and scientific computing in R or Python.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Some teaching experience and demonstrated potential in research and education.
  • Experience in developing technology foresight models and policy analysis is an advantage.
  • Publication in high‑impact journals preferred.
Contract

Full‑time, temporary employment for two years with a possible one‑year extension. The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date.

Benefits
