Mälardalen University seeks a postdoctoral fellow in energy engineering to independently plan and execute research within the Future Energy Center. The position emphasizes collaboration with industry partners and other researchers to advance renewable energy, energy efficiency and digitalization for energy systems.
The successful candidate will disseminate findings through conferences and peer‑reviewed journals, and may contribute to teaching up to 20% of the time.
The Faculty of Engineering and Health Sciences provides education and conducts research in engineering, health and information design, with a focus on addressing societal challenges. Our research is carried out in close collaboration with external partners, nationally and internationally, to drive knowledge development and innovation. Education at all levels is research-based and closely aligned with the needs of society and working life. We contribute to sustainable societal development. The Faculty comprises three departments with about 500 staff. The Department of Engineering Sciences hosts a large portion of the University's Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering programmes in fields such as energy engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, building engineering, environmental engineering and industrial systems. The department conducts internationally recognised research focusing on future energy and industrial systems. Collaboration with industry and society is central to developing sustainable, resource-efficient and competitive solutions for the society of tomorrow.
The purpose of the position is to give the employee an early opportunity to develop independence as a researcher and to create the conditions for further acquisitions of qualifications after completing the doctoral degree. The position is a temporary employment with a maximum period of 3 years.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to take initiative, be creative and take responsibility. The work tasks interact closely with industrial partners. Therefore, the applicant needs to have good collaboration skills. The researcher also needs to be able to disseminate and communicate scientific results and knowledge within existing and new networks, which includes academia, industry and society at large. The research results will be presented at project meetings, conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
As a postdoctoral fellow, you are expected to take responsibility for planning and implementing your studies, take your own initiatives to develop your ideas and knowledge, and be able to collaborate with others both within and outside academia. Teaching or other assignments may be included in the position to a maximum of 20%.
As a postdoctoral fellow, you will also be part of the research group Future Energy, where you are expected to contribute to the development of the group.
