Karolinska Institutet invites applications for a PhD Student Position in Developmental Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research. The project focuses on differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into neuronal subtypes and regenerative approaches for neurodegenerative diseases.

The successful candidate will work in the Johan Ericson group at KI, with supervision from Prof. Eva Hedlund and collaboration across neuroscience and stem cell biology, imaging, and translational neuroscience.

Qualificações

• Master's degree or equivalent required for doctoral eligibility.
• English proficiency equivalent to English B/6 at Swedish upper secondary school.
• Ability to undertake four-year full-time doctoral education.

Responsabilidades

• Differentiate human pluripotent stem cells into defined neuronal cell types, including dopaminergic and oculomotor neurons.
• Investigate the signalling pathways and molecular mechanisms controlling neuronal specification and differentiation.
• Characterize stem cell-derived progenitors and neurons using molecular, cellular, and imaging-based approaches.
• Perform quantitative analyses of cell identity, differentiation efficiency, and cellular phenotypes.
• Participate in studies evaluating properties and function of stem cell-derived neuronal populations, including preclinical studies when relevant.
• Analyse and interpret experimental data and present results at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
• Work collaboratively with other laboratory members and researchers from related disciplines.
• Contribute to scientific manuscripts resulting from the doctoral project.
