Job summary

Lund University, MAX IV, Accelerator operations, seeks an Accelerator Operator Assistant (part-time). You will join the Operations Group to operate the MAX-IV accelerators and ensure beam conditions for beamlines and physicists.

The role is shift-based with 24/7 coverage. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in physics or engineering or relevant experience running large facilities; ability to proactively fix issues; enjoy programming in Python; strong English skills; willingness to work evenings,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline and/or experience operating large, complex facilities.
• Ability to take initiative to fix problems before they arise and develop solutions for smoother operation.
• Enjoy programming and comfortable developing with Python.
• Willingness and ability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Operate the MAX-IV accelerators according to the weekly plans.
• Maintain nominal beam conditions during delivery periods as much as possible.
• Document issues and actions as they arise.
• Handover to incoming operators on shift changes.
• Act as on-site radiation safety officer when required.
