Job summary

Cleeven is seeking an Optical Engineer to join our R&D teams across high-tech industries. You’ll contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing advanced optical systems, collaborating with clients to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

You’ll work through the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design and simulation, prototyping, validation, and performance optimization, using industry tools and languages such as Zemax, CODE V, MATLAB, and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

We are expanding and looking for talented, passionate Optical Engineers to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, developing, and optimizing advanced optical systems for innovative products and technologies across a wide range of industries.

Your Profile

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• You have at least 1 year of hands‑on experience in optical design, development, or testing.
• You’re curious, technically driven, and eager to solve complex engineering challenges.
• You communicate easily with end users and stakeholders and can effectively gather and translate technical requirements.
• You’re a proactive problem solver who works independently and takes ownership of your work.
• You are fluent in English.

As an Optical Engineer, you’ll be part of the R&D departments of our clients—leading companies within high‑tech, medical devices, automotive, defense, and consumer technology. You’ll contribute throughout the full product development lifecycle, including:

• Optical system requirements analysis
• Optical design and simulation
• Lens and illumination system development
• Optical prototyping, testing, validation, and performance optimization
