Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Field Service Engineer II to perform on-site installation, alignment and repair of electron microscopy systems across the Nordics. The role requires hands-on experience with SEM, TEM, or FIB, and the ability to travel up to 50–75%.

The successful candidate will maintain ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, interpret schematics, and train customers on system operation. Excellent communication and a driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electronics, Mechanics, Materials Science, Biology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating instruments such as SEM, TEM, or FIB.
• Experience with ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to read and interpret schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 50–75% in the Nordics and beyond.
• Valid driver’s license and English proficiency; Nordic language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site installation of electron microscopes and follow testing procedures.
• Perform on-site maintenance visits and preventive tasks.
• Provide customer and field personnel support and mentorship.
• Develop relationships with customers and internal teams.
• Submit field service reports and maintain system documentation.
• Collaborate with application scientists to address customer challenges.
