Cota Robotics is seeking a hands-on engineer to design, build, and fix electrical and mechanical subsystems on our robots used in real stores.
You’ll deploy robots into shops, observe where they break, and turn those lessons into the next hardware version while working across electronics, mechanics, wiring and integration.
A generalist mindset, being a tinkerer, and the ability to improvise in a fast-moving, chaotic environment are essential.
You’ll work hands‑on with the robot. Grippers, actuators, sensors, wiring, mounts, whatever the robot needs to survive a real store. Some of it will be properly engineered. Some of it needs to work by Thursday. You should be comfortable with both.
Design, build, and fix electrical and mechanical subsystems on the robot
Deploy robots into stores and see firsthand where they break
Turn what you learn in stores into the next version of the hardware
Work across the whole stack, including electronics, mechanics, wiring, and integration
A generalist comfortable across a broad range of components and disciplines
A tinkerer, maker, or someone who has taken more things apart than they’ve put back together
Able to make something work in the short term and improve it later without confusing the two
At home in a chaotic, fast‑moving environment
Ready to learn, even when that means researching unfamiliar issues as they arise
Build on real robots operating in real stores
Work across disciplines rather than in a narrow silo
Learn quickly from field deployments and hardware feedback
Help shape the next version of the system
