Role Purpose

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will ensure the delivery of a large Data Centre in Sweden, overseeing Engineering, Commercial, Planning, Quality, EHS, Installation, and Commissioning. You will plan, organize, lead, coordinate, and control all activities related to Mechanical Piping / HVAC Projects. You will be the key contact with the client, fostering strong, positive relationships, and ensuring environmental, health, safety, and quality standards are met or exceeded.

Mechanical Project Manager Responsibilities

In collaboration with your project team, you will oversee various project stages:

Project Start-Up:

  • Arrange and chair handover from estimating to construction
  • Liaise with Operations Manager on staffing
  • Develop business plans, cost control, cash flow, and billing schedules
  • Produce procurement, design, construction schedules, and project control tools
  • Coordinate with clients and design teams on procurement and engineering issues
  • Develop safety and quality plans
  • Mobilize subcontractors and labor
  • Set up site establishment

Project Execution:

  • Establish training plans with Operations Manager
  • Manage site team daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with schedules, materials, engineering, quality, and safety standards
  • Attend client meetings
  • Hold weekly progress meetings with subcontractors
  • Control costs and sales with Quantity Surveyor
  • Inform client of sales plans
  • Monitor productivity and project progress weekly
  • Submit monthly reports

Project Completion:

  • Oversee testing and commissioning per Quality Plan
  • Conduct final design audits
  • Complete and certify systems for handover
  • Demonstrate systems to client and District Surveyor
  • Handover O&M manuals and drawings
  • Prepare and agree final account with QS and client
  • Demobilize site team and establish closure
  • Produce project close-out report
  • Archive project records
  • Maintain contact with client during warranty and retention periods

Other Duties:

  • Maintain site documentation
  • Participate in project management meetings
  • Develop skills as per training plan
  • Suggest improvements for the company
  • Maintain client relationships

Minimum Requirements

  • Building Services or Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent
  • Over 10 years of project management experience
  • Proven track record delivering Data Centre projects over €10 million
  • Experience with pre-commissioning and system turnover
  • Knowledge of Piping/HVAC and building services
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience with Process Piping, BMS, utilities piping is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent record-keeping and administrative skills
  • Results-driven leadership
  • Ability to influence and mentor junior staff
