Job summary

Cytiva in Sweden is seeking a hands-on Market Support Scientist to operate at the intersection of R&D and commercial strategy. You will design experiments to showcase performance of lab-scale protein research tools and translate results into customer-facing content.

The role requires strong experimental capability, clear scientific communication, and the ability to work independently while prioritizing multiple projects within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• PhD required with hands-on protein purification experience.
• Strong ability to communicate complex scientific data in writing.
• Excellent organizational and multi-project management skills.
• Hands-on experience with ÄKTA systems and UNICORN.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute wet-lab experiments demonstrating performance and differentiation of key systems (ÄKTA, Biacore, imaging platforms, chromatography consumables).
• Translate experimental outcomes into application notes, technical guides, white papers, and other customer-facing materials.
• Collaborate with product management and marketing to define content needs and align with portfolio priorities.
• Take ownership of project planning and execution, including timelines and resource coordination.
• Maintain awareness of scientific developments in protein research and downstream processing via literature and conferences.
• Identify emerging applications and unmet customer needs aligned with portfolio strategy.
• Independently manage laboratory operations, including documentation, reagent procurement, and data analysis.

We are seeking a hands-on Market Support Scientist to operate at the intersection of R&D and commercial strategy. This role is positioned within R&D but is uniquely focused on enabling market impact through scientific evidence and application insight.

As Market Support Scientist at Cytiva, you will design and execute experiments to demonstrate the performance and value of our lab-scale protein research portfolio, including chromatography systems, biosensor platforms, imaging solutions, and consumables. A key component of the role is translating experimental results into high-quality, customer-facing scientific content.

The position requires both strong experimental capability and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively. You are expected to work independently, contribute to shaping project priorities, and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

Who you are:

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, protein science, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in protein purification and experimental design preferably within Life Science industry.
• Proven ability to communicate complex scientific data clearly in writing
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently
• Extensive hands-on experience with protein purification using ÄKTA systems and UNICORN
• Ability to clearly describe purification workflows and method design concepts in written format

It would be a plus if you also possess experience in:

• Familiarity with imaging systems, HPLC, SPR (Biacore), and/or mass spectrometry (user-level understanding)
