QIAGEN DNA Synthesis AB in Sweden, has produced high quality synthetic DNA for diagnostic purposes for more than 30 years. We are situated in Västerås and have around 100 employees. We apply the medical device directives, ISO13485 (EU) and 21CFR820 (USA) and our production is carried out in accordance with GMP.

Position Description

Safety and operational excellence go hand-in-hand, with each improving the other and leading to continuous improvement of management systems.

Both safety management and operational excellence can be defined as the integration of people, processes, and technology to solve problems, improve collaboration, and empower teams. This results in the continuous improvement of management systems to enhance customer satisfaction, increase employee productivity, and improve brand reputation, leading to accelerated growth.

Safety management principles are aimed at workplace safety, but since they impact workplace assets and processes, they also improve operational efficiency, leading to excellence.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced EHS and Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring our operations are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS management and a proven track record in driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Lead and manage EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
  • Provide training and support to employees on EHS and OpEx best practices.
  • Monitor and report on EHS and OpEx performance metrics.
  • Foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and operational excellence throughout the organization.

Position Requirements

  • University degree equivalent to Master of Science (Chemistry, Biology, Pharma or similar).
  • At least 5 years professional experience from industry, preferably in a similar function.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to engage people and “get the message through”.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, open to taking on and sharing additional responsibilities within the management team. Business focused with a strategic mindset.
  • Fluent Swedish and English, written and spoken, with excellent communication skills at all levels.
