HCLTech in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, seeks a Senior/SME - Mainframe CICS System Programmer/Administrator with 10+ years of hands‑on CICS on z/OS. The role ensures availability, stability and performance of mission‑critical CICS systems supporting 24x7 applications.

The candidate will install, upgrade, administer, and tune CICS environments, integrate with Db2, MQ, IMS and RACF, and lead automation efforts using REXX/CLIST. Hybrid work model with occasional travel to office locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of hands-on Mainframe CICS experience on z/OS.
• Experience supporting 24x7 enterprise production environments.
• Strong analytical and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade CICS TS environments.
• Monitor, tune, and manage CICS regions for performance and availability.
• Coordinate with Db2, MQ, IMS, RACF and related subsystems.
• Develop automation using REXX, CLIST, or CICSPlex RTA.
• Participate in incident, problem, change and release processes.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support and guidance to junior staff.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe CICS System Programmer with 10+ years of hands‑on experience in installing, upgrading, administering, tuning, and supporting IBM CICS environments on z/OS. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, security, and performance of mission‑critical CICS systems supporting 24x7 business applications.

The role requires strong technical expertise in CICS system programming, problem determination, performance management, disaster recovery, automation, and integration with other mainframe subsystems such as Db2, MQ, IMS, and RACF.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM CICS Transaction Server environments.
• Perform CICS version upgrades, maintenance, RSU/PTF implementation, and SMP/E-related activities.
• Monitor and tune CICS regions to ensure optimal performance, availability, and capacity management.
• Analyze CICS performance metrics using tools such as OMEGAMON, SYSVIEW, RMF, and SMF records.
• Troubleshoot system issues, storage violations, hangs, loops, abends, and performance bottlenecks.
• Perform dump analysis using IPCS and related diagnostic tools (Optional)
• Configure and maintain CICSPlex SM, WLM definitions, CTG, CPSM, and CICS Explorer.
• Create and maintain CICS resource definitions (PCT, PPT, FCT, TCPIPSERVICE, URIMAP, etc.).
• Support CICS integrations with Db2, MQ, IMS, Web Services, and z/OS Connect.
• Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management activities.
• Develop automation solutions using REXX, CLIST, System Automation, or CICSPlex RTA.
• Support Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Maintain operational documentation, standards, runbooks, and best practices.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior system programmers.
• Participate in 24x7 on‑call support and critical production activities.
