Avanza Bank in Stockholm is seeking a Lead UI Designer to own the high-fidelity visual layer and raise the bar for modern retail investment experiences across the Nordics.

You will focus on visual craft, creative direction, and interactive execution as an IC, with no people management responsibilities. Expect to work across iOS, Android, and web with a strong emphasis on design systems and brand coherence.

Qualifications

• Around 8+ years of experience designing digital consumer products across mobile apps and responsive web.
• Portfolio showing mastery in typography, micro-interactions, motion, and polished UI aesthetics.
• Proven experience defining visual direction and establishing cohesive brand identities across digital touchpoints.
• Deep knowledge of building and maintaining scalable design systems and component libraries.
• Practical fluency with AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude, or v0) for rapid, interactive prototyping.

We are looking for a Lead UI Designer who wants to help millions of people achieve a better financial future. We want to be the service that simplifies everyday finances and wins our customers' hearts through delightful, intuitive product experiences.

Driven by digital innovation and changing customer behaviors, Avanza is preparing to launch in the Danish market in 2027. Joining our Expansion team as an Individual Contributor (IC) craft leader, you will own the high-fidelity visual layer and set a new standard for modern retail investment experiences across the Nordics.

About the Role

In this role, you get to dedicate your time fully to visual craft, creative direction, and interactive execution as an Individual Contributor, with no people management responsibilities.

You will also work with and be responsible for:

• Leading end-to-end interface design and delivering production-ready UI for hybrid mobile apps (iOS & Android) and responsive web.

• Ensuring design and brand coherence across all digital touchpoints and platforms.

• Translating complex cross-border financial journeys into intuitive, accessible (WCAG AA), and engaging experiences tailored to a tech-forward audience (ages 18–35).

• Accelerating product validation through dynamic, live-code prototyping (embracing tools like Cursor, Claude, or v0) over static Figma frames.

• Collaborating closely with the Expansion UX Lead, Product Designer, Brand Lead, and local market team.

The Team & Design Community: You will be embedded in our cross-functional Expansion team and belong to Avanza’s broader design chapter, a community of around 30 UX designers, UI designers, and UX writers who continuously share learnings and develop our craft.

Who We Are Looking For

You bring an art-director-level eye for layout, typography, micro-interactions, motion, and refined visual craft. You are curious, creative, open to AI-driven workflows, and deliver structured, high-quality design. You communicate design decisions with logic and user empathy, and you thrive in a low-prestige, highly collaborative team environment.

We would love to see that you have:

• Around 8+ years of experience designing digital consumer products across mobile apps and responsive web.

• A portfolio showing mastery in typography, micro-interactions, motion, and polished UI aesthetics.

• Proven experience defining visual direction and establishing cohesive brand identities across digital touchpoints.

• Deep knowledge of building and maintaining scalable design systems and component libraries.

High financial literacy and/or experience of financial services is a merit. We also value an understanding of Nordic consumer behaviors (Denmark in particular) and professional working proficiency in Swedish or Danish.
