Job summary

Sumitomo Electric in Gothenburg seeks a Junior Interior Component Designer to design and develop high-quality interior components shaping next-generation UX.

The role combines design, engineering and user experience to translate creative intent into detailed, production-ready solutions that balance aesthetics with manufacturability.

Some travel to China is required, approximately twice per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Capacity to deliver production-ready component designs.
• Strong sketching and visualization skills to communicate design intent.
• Proficiency in 3D modelling and visualization tools (Alias, Blender, Photoshop, VRED).
• Understanding of ergonomics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to balance aesthetics, function, and feasibility in component design.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
