Ericsson in Stockholm is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join the Cloud RAN Layer 1 team. You will develop and maintain software in a performance-critical C++ environment and learn how 5G/6G radio systems operate.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or near graduation in a relevant field.
  • Strong fundamentals in C/C++ programming.
  • Experience with Python for data processing or ML is a plus.
  • Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software in Ericsson's Cloud RAN Layer 1 platform.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering workflows to support development, testing, debugging and code reviews.
  • Work with modern C++ and performance-critical components.
  • Learn how 5G/6G radio systems and physical layer processing work.
  • Participate in feature development, debugging, testing, code reviews and CI.
  • Collaborate with software developers, architects, system engineers and testers across teams.
  • Contribute to software quality, test coverage, maintainability and improvement.
  • Explore AI/ML-enabled features, including prototyping and evaluation with experienced engineers.
  • Grow technical skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.

Our teams develop performance-critical software at the heart of 5G and future radio systems. As a Junior Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced developers and technical experts to learn how advanced wireless communication systems are designed, implemented, tested, and optimized.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain software in Ericsson's Cloud RAN Layer 1 platform.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering workflows to support activities such as developing code, test creation, debugging, documentation, and code review.
  • Work with modern C++ and performance-critical software components.
  • Learn how 5G/6G radio systems and physical layer processing work.
  • Participate in feature development, debugging, testing, code reviews, and continuous integration activities.
  • Collaborate with software developers, architects, system engineers, and testers across global teams.
  • Contribute to software quality, test coverage, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Explore and contribute to AI/ML-enabled features that may be implemented in the product, including prototyping, integration, testing, and evaluation together with experienced engineers.
  • Grow your technical skills through mentorship, feedback, and hands‑on experience.
The Skills You Bring
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, Julia.
  • Foundational understanding of AI and machine learning concepts.
  • Practical experience using Python for data processing, experimentation, or machine learning through university coursework, thesis work, or personal projects.
  • Experience with Linux development environments, Git, unit testing, CI/CD, or cloud‑native technologies.
  • Basic understanding of 5G, mobile networks, physical layer processing, or 3GPP concepts.
  • Ability to use AI‑assisted development tools critically and responsibly.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Interest in software engineering, high‑performance systems, and telecommunications.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Curiosity, collaboration, ownership, and a strong willingness to learn.
