Job summary

IKEA is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain our data infrastructure to support business needs and decision‑making. You will help deliver data products and analytics capabilities in a modern, multi‑cloud environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

You will mentor colleagues, uphold data governance and security, and continuously improve pipelines and models for performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience designing, building, operating data pipelines.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, Python and PySpark.
• Databricks certification required (Associate or Professional).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data models (dim modelling, star/snowflake, Data Vault, Medallion) to support analytics and self‑service reporting across Core Business Supply.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate diverse internal and external data sources into IKEA's data platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, analysts, data product leaders and data scientists to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Establish, promote and enforce data engineering best practices including data modelling standards, data quality, version control, testing, monitoring and metadata management.
• Optimise data models and pipelines for performance, reliability, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Ensure data is stored, processed and accessed securely with data governance and privacy compliance.
• Contribute to reusable frameworks and semantic layers to accelerate delivery and consistency.
• Stay current with evolving data engineering technologies and practices for business value.
• Mentor and share knowledge with coworkers through code reviews and collaboration.
