Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Ludvika seeks engineers for valve cooling design in HVDC applications. You will work with cross-functional teams on cooling systems, perform simulations, and help optimize materials and manufacturing processes.

The role requires a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering physics, strong fluid and thermodynamics knowledge, and English proficiency. Experience with CFD or thermal calculations is a plus. CAD in NX preferred.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Open to multi-disciplinary mechanical and electrical assignments.
• Experience with new product development, flow simulations, thermal cycle calculations, or cooling system control is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop new cooling technologies and improve existing ones to enhance HVDC converter valve performance and its cooling system.
• Conduct research, testing, and validation of cooling systems using advanced modelling, simulation, and analysis tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate cooling systems into designs.
• Evaluate and select materials, components, and suppliers for cooling systems based on technical requirements, cost, and reliability.
• Prepare 3D CAD models, drawings and BOM for cooling components.
• Perform DFMEA to prevent issues in future product development.
