Job summary

Hitachi Energy Sweden AB in Ludvika, Sweden is seeking Software Engineers to join the HVDC Control & Protection Software team. You will contribute to the full software lifecycle across design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of MACH platform components for HVDC projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, documentation, and customer training, with opportunities for international travel for commissioning and strong alignment to safety and integrity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with software development and programming, preferably within the power or energy industry.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps.
• Experience with HVDC systems and EtherCAT or other industrial protocols.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; proactive, team-oriented.
• Professional proficiency in English; Swedish or additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all project phases: software design, development, integration, testing, verification, deployment and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain control and protection software for HVDC projects.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and support customer training activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve challenges and drive improvement.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver high-quality results.
• Contribute to safe and reliable operation of HVDC systems and travel for commissioning.
