Hitachi Energy Sweden AB invites you to join our HVDC R&D team as an R&D Engineer to develop advanced control strategies for MMC- and LCC-based HVDC systems. You will design and optimize control algorithms and perform stability analyses to ensure robust performance.

The role involves contributing to system‑level performance evaluations, supporting technology roadmaps, and collaborating in a global, innovation‑driven environment. English fluency is required and teamwork is valued.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc (with some years of experience) in Power Systems, Electrical Machines and Drives, or Power Electronics Control.
• Preferred if you have some years of experience in HVDC or FACTS technologies.
• Strong knowledge of MMC topologies and HVDC control systems.
• Proven expertise in small-signal stability analysis and transient simulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize control algorithms for MMC- and LCC-based HVDC systems.
• Perform small‑signal stability analysis, harmonic studies and transient simulations.
• Contribute to system‑level dynamic performance evaluations and improvements in control strategies.
• Support strategic technology roadmaps and future HVDC control system directions.
