The Electrical Valve Design department is part of Hitachi Energy HVDC Products in Ludvika, Sweden, and is globally responsible for the electrical design and requirements of semiconductor-based HVDC and SVC valves. The department designs digital optical instrument transducers that measure current in HVDC systems and provides technical support in upgrades and service projects.
Your responsibilities:
- Perform semiconductor valve calculations, including electrical, thermal, and loss analyses.
- Perform semiconductor valve simulations, including circuit and FEM simulations.
- Specify testing requirements to ensure tests meet applicable standards.
- Specify control and protection requirements for the valve.
- Deliver customer training materials and conduct training sessions.

Your background:
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Power Engineering, Electronics, Physics or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of work experience in HVDC or GPQS.
- Strong knowledge of engineering tools such as Matlab, Mathcad, PSCAD, LTSpice, COMSOL or ANSYS.
- Positive attitude, self‑motivated, curious, and thrive in roles where knowledge can be deepened.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of Swedish highly valued.
- Team player, open‑minded, straightforward communicator and natural problem solver.
