The Electrical Valve Design department is part of Hitachi Energy HVDC Products in Ludvika, responsible for electrical design and requirements of semiconductor‑based HVDC and SVC valves. HVDC valves convert AC to DC for power transmission, while SVC valves support AC system stability. Our team also designs digital optical instrument transducers that measure valve current, harmonics, and filter supervision.
The department includes 38 employees in Sweden and collaborates closely with teams in India and China. We manage tenders, project deliveries, productification of new valve solutions, life‑cycle management, and provide technical support for upgrades and service projects.
This position is based in Ludvika, Sweden. We are eager to expand our team with someone passionate about technology and sustainable energy.
Your responsibilities:
- Perform semiconductor valve calculations, including electrical, thermal, and losses.
- Conduct semiconductor valve simulations, including circuit and FEM simulations.
- Specify testing requirements to ensure compliance with standards.
- Define control and protection requirements for the valve.
- Deliver customer training.

Your background:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Power Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in HVDC or GPQS.
- Solid knowledge of engineering tools such as Matlab, Mathcad, PSCAD, LTSpice, COMSOL, or ANSYS.
- Positive attitude and passion for electrical and electronics engineering.
- Self‑motivated, curious, and eager to deepen knowledge in a challenging role.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Swedish is highly valued.
- Team player who communicates openly, is a natural problem solver, and enjoys challenges.
