Head of Agile & AD Practices

City: Solna

Job Function: IT

Head of Agile & Application Development Practices

Are you someone who thrives on driving transformation and enabling teams to deliver high-quality digital solutions? Do you have a passion for agile ways of working and a strategic mindset for modern application development? If so, our Head of Agile & Application Development Practices role might be the perfect fit for you!

As Head of Agile & AD Practices, you will lead the transformation of SAS’s agile ways of working by embedding a unified, business-integrated agile operating model across Digital & IT and the wider SAS organisation, while also driving the evolution of application development practices to enable scalable, high-quality software delivery.

Challenges you will work on:

In this exciting and dynamic role, you will oversee the transformation of SAS’s agile ways of working and application development practices. You will tackle the intricate task of designing and implementing a mature agile setup anchored in agile frameworks, while modernizing engineering capabilities across teams. As the main point of contact for agile enablement and development excellence, you will coordinate with Digital & IT, SAS business units, and external partners to embed agile principles, roles, and ceremonies into cross-functional teams. Your ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial in driving agile adoption, uplifting technical capabilities, and aligning delivery with strategic goals.

Your ability to collaborate will be crucial as you:

  • Lead and coach a team of agile professionals (coaches and scrum masters) to support agile adoption across business and IT.
  • Define and implement agile metrics, governance models, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Facilitate agile training, onboarding, and capability uplift across SAS and its partners.
  • Act as a change agent to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and adaptive delivery.
  • Lead the transformation of application development practices, including the adoption of modern engineering principles such as CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, and cloud-native development.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to align agile delivery with technical excellence and scalable architecture.
  • Ensure integration of agile ways of working with robust application development lifecycles and tooling.
The Team

As the Head of Agile & AD Practices within our newly created Office of the CIO in Digital & IT, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping how SAS delivers value through agile ways of working and modern engineering practices. You will be part of a high-performing and diverse team composed of talented professionals from various backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence. In this role, you will lead the alignment of agile and application development practices across SAS, working closely with product owners, developers, scrum masters, and transformation teams. You will set the direction for how agile principles and engineering standards are embedded into cross-functional teams, ensuring consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement. As a key driver of SAS’s agile community of practice, you will foster a culture of transparency, learning, and delivery excellence—communicating effectively across the organization to champion agile and technical maturity.

To be successful, we believe you have:
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and scaling agile in large organisations.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on delivery mindset.
  • Excellent communication and change management capabilities.
  • Strong grasp of software development lifecycle, engineering principles, and agile technical practices.
  • 7+ years of experience in agile roles, including 5+ years leading enterprise-level agile transformations.
  • Proven track record implementing SAFe or similar frameworks in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience working with both in-house and offshore delivery models.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale application development transformations, including modernizing engineering practices and delivery pipelines.
  • University degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification or equivalent is a strong plus.
  • Commitment to work from the office 3 days per week.
