Job description
About Fairlo

Fairlo was founded to reimagine credit—rooted in transparency, flexibility, and respect. Since 2018, Fairlo has helped tens of thousands of customers access responsible credit. We’re a tight team of 30 based in Stockholm, Crete, and the UK, governed by a culture of kindness, courage, collaboration, and common sense. The Fairlo group consists of Fairlo AB, a branch in Greece (Fairlo Tech Hub Ltd), and fully owned subsidiaries Correctia AB (Sweden) and Fairlo UK Ltd. We manage accounting and payroll in-house, with external partners for specific needs.

We are entering an exciting chapter: Fairlo is becoming a bank. This requires robust accounting processes, flawless reporting, and strong regulatory compliance to support growth and that transition.

Are you our new Head of Accounting?

As Head of Accounting, you will lead the accounting function that underpins Fairlo’s evolution into a bank. This role combines hands-on accounting with building a scalable financial backbone to support growth, trust, and regulatory standards.

You will take full operational responsibility for Fairlo’s accounting, reporting, and financial compliance at both entity and group levels. You will work with the Finance Manager and Head of Controlling & Strategic Initiatives to ensure accurate, timely reporting aligned with IFRS (including IFRS 9 for credit institutions) and local regulations.

This is a hands-on and highly structured role, suited for detail-oriented individuals who also want to contribute to building a broader, modern bank founded on transparency and flexibility.

Your responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting across the Fairlo group in accordance with IFRS (including IFRS 9 for credit institutions) and local regulations.
  • Own monthly closings, entity and group-level reporting (including tax reporting and declarations), annual reports, and end-to-end audits.
  • Manage monthly reconciliations (including portfolio reconciliation with external debt providers) and ensure internal controls are followed; collaborate with the Finance Manager to optimize processes.
  • Maintain and develop accounting principles, routines, manuals, and policies; ensure correct accounting for new and existing products, including transfer pricing for the group.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with accurate and timely accounting guidance.
  • Be the main point of contact for auditors, external advisors, and regulators (e.g., Finansinspektionen in Sweden and FCA in the UK).
  • Ensure preparation and submission of regulatory reporting (e.g., COREP/FINREP/SCB and other required reports) with Risk when needed.
  • Be responsible for short-term liquidity, balance sheet and P&L forecasts; contribute to long-term forecasting and budgeting.
  • Manage treasury and liquidity.
  • Support and act as a backup to the Finance Manager with daily operational tasks and ad-hoc tasks when needed.
  • Contribute to improvements in accounting systems and processes to enhance accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
Your team

Finance Manager: responsible for daily finance operations of the entire group, including financial accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payments, reconciliations, payroll, taxes, and involvement in annual reports and audits.

Head of Controlling & Strategic Initiatives: responsible for internal controls, budgeting, reporting, and governance, plus strategic initiatives.

We expect you to be the senior expert in accounting and compliance, continuously improving routines and ensuring regulatory compliance within the finance function.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, including group accounting (e.g., as an auditor, consultant, or accounting manager within a bank or credit institution).
  • Solid knowledge of Swedish GAAP, IFRS, and multi-country exposure.
  • Experience in treasury management.
  • Academic degree in business/finance/accounting.
  • Advanced skills in Excel/Sheets.
  • Strong written and spoken Swedish and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail, structure, and quality.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A constant drive for improvement.

Nice if you also have experience from:

  • Data management, data analysis, and understanding of SQL.
  • Fortnox experience.
  • Payroll experience.
Joining Fairlo means
  • Be part of building a financial world you’d like to live in.
  • Work hands-on with real impact and ownership.
  • Competitive salary and benefits including stock options, health insurance, pension, and wellness allowance.
  • Hybrid working model with a top-location office in Stockholm.
  • Be part of a supportive, fun, and growth-oriented team.
Where you’ll work

Mainly in our Stockholm office, with travel to other Fairlo offices in the UK, Greece, and other locations as needed.

We welcome people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who want to change the world through their vision.
