Job summary

ECAPS AB is seeking a Harness and Electrical Assembly PA/QA Engineer to ensure high-reliability electrical assemblies and ECSS compliance in a space-grade environment. This hybrid role blends soldering inspection, harness quality, and QA responsibilities at ECSS standards.

You will inspect soldered assemblies, guide operators, manage NCRs, and interface with production, suppliers, and QA teams to uphold rigorous workmanship.

Qualifications

• Certified for inspection of soldered electrical assemblies per ECSS (Inspector level – category 2/3).
• Alternative IPC certifications with demonstrated inspection authority and ECSS path.
• Understanding of electrical harness design and routing principles.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics desirable.
• Knowledge of ECSS-Q-ST-20/10/70 series and IPC standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and accept soldered electrical assemblies per ECSS-Q-ST-70-61.
• Provide QC oversight for crimping and harness assembly per ECSS-Q-ST-70-26.
• Act as inspection authority for soldering, crimping, electrical assemblies and harness workmanship.
• Guide ECSS-certified operators in workmanship and quality requirements.
• Follow up NCRs per ECSS processes.

About the Role

We are looking for a Harness and Electrical Assembly PA/QA Engineer to ensure high-reliability electrical assemblies and compliance with ECSS standards.

This hybrid role combines soldering inspection, harness quality, and QA responsibilities, with responsibility for workmanship acceptance in a high-reliability space environment.

The role also requires a solid understanding of electrical harness systems, including routing, integration, and assembly principles, to ensure effective inspection and quality assurance of electrical hardware.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspection and acceptance of soldered electrical assemblies and connections in accordance with ECSS (ECSS-Q-ST-70-61)
• Provide inspection support and quality oversight for crimping and harness assembly activities in accordance with ECSS (ECSS-Q-ST-70-26)
• Act as inspection authority for soldering, crimping, electrical assemblies and harness workmanship, including accept/reject decisions
• Support and guide ECSS certified operators (category 3 soldering, category 2 and 3 crimping) in workmanship and quality requirements
• Support and follow up non-conformance reports (NCRs) in accordance with ECSS processes

Qualifications & Experience

• Certified for inspection of soldered electrical assemblies according to ECSS (ECSS-Q-ST-70-61, Inspector level – category 2/3)
• Alternatively, certified to IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 3), with demonstrated inspection authority and ability to obtain ECSS Inspector category 2/3 certification (ECSS-Q-ST-70-61)
• Understanding of electrical harness design and routing principles, including cable routing, shielding, and integration of electrical components
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and schematics is desirable
• Knowledge of:
  • ECSS-Q-ST-20 (quality assurance framework)
  • ECSS-Q-ST-10 (product assurance management)
  • ECSS-Q-ST-10-09 (non-conformance control / NCR management)
  • ECSS-Q-ST-70 series (materials, mechanical parts and processes)
  • ECSS-Q-ST-70-26 (crimping)
  • IPC-A-610 (electronics assemblies)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable and wire harness)
