Grapple Truck Material Handling Operator- Railroad

National Salvage & Service Corporation is a trusted industry leader in the dismantling of railroad tracks, the removal of railroad ties from right-of-ways and the demolition of bridges. Railroad track removal and demolition is National’s core business – we have been removing tracks since National was founded in 1980.

This position does require a CDL (Class A or B)

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Travel is required, 4 weeks out then 1 week at home.
  • Hauling railroad ties, scrap metal, scrap wood, and equipment
  • Physically able to secure loads: strapping, tarping and torquing
  • Able to work long hours, overtime, and possible weekends in all weather conditions
  • Filling out daily paperwork and working independently
  • Ability to use a smart phone, GPS, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD)
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Class A or B CDL required
  • MUST have at least 2 years of commercial driving experience
  • Railroad experience preferred
  • Friendly approach when working with customers
  • Good communication with dispatchers and office employees, written and verbal
  • Completely and accurately fill out daily paperwork
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to make small repairs (change hydraulic hose, grease and lube, safety walk around inspection)
  • Follow all Safety Program, Policies and Procedures
  • Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, walk on uneven terrain, Lift 50 pounds, and Exposed to Loud Noises on Live Train Tracks. This is an Outdoor Position and you will be exposed to all weather elements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-offer drug test and will be subject to FRA random drug testing.
