Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Sweden seeks a Design Engineer for the Transformers business unit to join the Global Product Care team. You will develop and design innovative products and systems that meet customer needs and industry standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams worldwide to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of R&D or engineering experience.
• Solid knowledge in mechanical design for high-voltage components.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Experience with IEC/IEEE/ISO/ASTM standards.
• Experience with finite element analysis using ANSYS.

Responsibilities

• Create mechanical simulation models for transformer components (bushings, tap-changers, measurement devices).
• Verify mechanical performance per IEC, IEEE, GB, and other standards; issue simulation reports.
• Develop internal tools for mechanical evaluations and support global teams.
• Collaborate with supply chain to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead project aspects and mentor junior colleagues; act as SME.
