Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Testing & Commissioning Engineer to support HVDC and grid integration projects across EMEA, the Middle East, North America, and beyond.

The role focuses on testing, commissioning, startup and energization of high-voltage equipment at customer sites. You will work with project teams to ensure safe, efficient handover, travel internationally, and maintain HSE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 2-3 years of commissioning, testing, maintenance, installation, or field service experience in power/energy sectors preferred.
• Hands-on experience with electrical equipment on site.
• Experience with testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energization activities.
• Understanding of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Experience with high-voltage equipment, substations, or grid projects.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Execute testing, commissioning, startup and energization activities on HVDC and HV projects worldwide.
• Perform commissioning on primary electrical equipment and systems, ensuring safe operation before handover.
• Carry out functional testing, inspections, equipment verification, and troubleshooting on site.
• Support energization activities for AC and DC systems per approved procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, quality, HSE and project management teams throughout project execution.
• Review and execute commissioning plans, test procedures, and technical documentation.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues during commissioning and startup phases.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and quality.
• Represent Hitachi Energy professionally at customer sites and international project locations.
• Travel extensively and undertake longer-term assignments at project sites globally.
