Job summary

ABB is seeking a Human Rights & Sustainability Counsel to lead strategic legal work across the Automation divisions and to advance human rights objectives globally. The role reports to the Head of Strategy and Sustainability and involves governance, policy alignment, and guidance across ABB’s businesses.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Law with focus on Human Rights and Sustainability.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in a global, cross-functional environment (in-house or top law firm).
• Experience with a leading management consulting firm (MBB) is an advantage.
• Excellent advocacy, communication, and influencing skills in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead ABB’s Human Rights workstream and governance with the Sustainability Council.
• Provide strategic legal guidance across ABB divisions on human rights and sustainability matters.
• Review and strengthen UNGP alignment in policies and due diligence frameworks.
• Support external stakeholder engagement on human rights topics and act as a central contact for ESG legal matters.
• Design training materials on Human Rights and Sustainability regulations and monitor regulatory developments.
