Job summary

ALTEN seeks an experienced Lead Function Owner in the automotive field to drive development and ownership of vehicle functions across the product lifecycle and to act as a technical leader, coaching others and aligning requirements, ways of working, and documentation.

You will collaborate with development teams, architects, safety engineers, cybersecurity specialists and other stakeholders to deliver robust, compliant solutions, and you will be the go-to expert for Functional Safety, Cyber

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechatronics/Software/Systems Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as Function Owner, System Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar in automotive.
• Experience with requirements engineering and system development.
• Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262, HARA).
• Knowledge of Cyber Security (TARA).
• Experience with PDS and SystemWeaver or CarWeaver.
• Understanding of vehicle development and verification processes.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Drive global function ownership for assigned vehicle functions.
• Develop, manage, and maintain function requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support and coach other function owners within Functional Safety, Cyber Security, and documentation processes.
• Act as the go-to person for PDS, Functional Safety, and Cyber Security topics.
• Break down feature requirements into function requirements and align with stakeholders.
• Ensure functions are verified and validated according to requirements.
• Participate in concept evaluations and function development activities.
• Drive and support safety-related activities, including Hazard Analysis and Functional Safety work products.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure commonality across products and markets.
• Contribute to continuous improvements of methods, processes, and ways of working.

ALTEN is now looking for a Function Owner for an assignment towards one of our clients within the automotive industry. In this role, you will take ownership of vehicle functions and play a key role in driving functional safety, cybersecurity, and product documentation across a global engineering organization.

About the role

As a Lead Function Owner, you will be responsible for driving the development and ownership of vehicle functions throughout the product lifecycle. You will act as a technical leader within your area, supporting and coaching other function owners while ensuring alignment regarding requirements, ways of working, and documentation.

The role combines systems engineering, stakeholder management, and technical leadership. You will collaborate closely with development teams, architects, safety engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and other stakeholders to secure robust and compliant solutions. You will also serve as a key point of contact within the organization for topics related to Functional Safety, Cyber Security, and product documentation.

Main responsibilities

• Drive global function ownership for assigned vehicle functions
• Develop, manage, and maintain function requirements throughout the product lifecycle
• Support and coach other function owners within Functional Safety, Cyber Security, and related documentation processes
• Act as the go-to person within the team for PDS, Functional Safety, and Cyber Security topics
• Break down feature requirements into function requirements and secure alignment with stakeholders
• Ensure that functions are verified and validated according to defined requirements
• Participate in concept evaluations and function development activities
• Drive and support safety-related activities, including Hazard Analysis and Functional Safety work products

Your profile

We see that you have:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent
• Experience as a Function Owner, System Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar role within the automotive industry
• Experience working with requirements engineering and system development
• Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262, HARA)
• Knowledge of Cyber Security (TARA)
• Experience working with PDS and SystemWeaver or CarWeaver
• Good understanding of vehicle development and verification processes
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Meritorious:

• Experience within vehicle control systems, embedded software, or electrical systems
