For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future – what matters is how we produce them. Become a part of us and drive change for generations to come.

Your opportunity

As a Field Exploration Geologist, you are responsible for planning, executing, and following up on exploration activities in the Boliden area and with a strong emphasis on zinc. You contribute geological expertise throughout the process – from data collection and analysis to reporting and presenting results. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues in exploration, engineering, and environmental functions, offering you the opportunity to develop and influence future mining projects.

Who you will work with

You will join a dedicated and knowledgeable exploration team of geologists, geophysicists, geochemists and field technicians. The team works in smaller groups focusing on VMS (Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide) exploration in different parts of the Skellefte district, one of the most important mining districts in Europe for base and precious metals.

  • Plan and carry out field exploration activities
  • Compile data and identify exploration targets
  • Conduct geochemical sampling and bedrock mapping
  • Plan and coordinate drilling operations
  • Drill hole logging
  • Perform geological interpretation and modeling (2D/3D)
  • Prepare reports and present results
  • Contribute to project management as needed

What you bring

We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical and solution-oriented, with a genuine interest in geology and exploration. You thrive both independently and as part of a team and you communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues from different backgrounds. You are adaptable and resilient, able to handle changing conditions in the field and you approach challenges with a positive and proactive mindset. Your attention to detail, sense of responsibility and willingness to share knowledge help create a supportive and inclusive work environment. It is important that you are able to fully complete assignments including documentation.

Requirements:

  • MSc degree in Geology or equivalent
  • Experience in geological work within exploration or mining
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Category B driving license

Merits:

  • Knowledge of geological modeling (e.g., Leapfrog, GIS)
