What you\'ll do

Creates visually appealing and functional vehicle concepts by blending artistic vision and innovation with technical knowledge. Contribute to shaping the future of automotive design.

Leads in innovation for interior design, from concept sketches through production development, blending artistic vision with technical feasibility to enhance brand strategy. Advanced competence in sketching, visualization (VRED skills requested), and 3D modelling, with solid experience in physical model development. Proactively drives innovative design solutions for customer experience and balances creative intent with stakeholders to execute with quality and speed. Requires solid knowledge of regulations, materials and manufacturing processes, and strong presentation skills (VRED, MIRO, PPT). Develops team competence by mentoring designers and drives process efficiencies.

Must have expert experience in the field of Interior Automotive design and in-depth knowledge of design process and what it takes to bring a car from sketch to reality. They must utilize all design skill sets to create quality proposals of their own with speed and efficiency. A proactive and collaborative personality is required to inspire and encourage other team members in the creation process.

Main Tasks

• Propose innovative and world class design solutions which push the future development of Volvo brand
• Create compelling and appropriate design proposals for concept and production car programs in the form of sketches, renderings and 3D digital models
• Collaborate cross functionally with all team disciplines to balance design proposals and advocate for interior discipline needs
• Support program timing by delivering high quality design proposals with speed and efficiency
• Manage projects or topics when needed, supervising other designers

Main Responsibilities

• Provide high quality designs through both 2D and 3D mediums
• Support Digital and clay modellers with clear visual and verbal direction in the creation of digital models, physical models and CG renderings
• Flexibility to work on a broad range of advanced design sketch concepts and production program refinement with quality
• Presenting and communicating design proposals using multiple media most efficiently to capture emotional visual design intent
• Collaborate with studio engineering on design solutions that can be brought to production – challenging what we do to create the best possible design
• Presenting and communicating design proposals using multiple medias including 2D sketching, Photoshop renders, PPT, VRED, etc

• Collaborating cross functionally with all team disciplines to enable a balanced design for manufacture while delivering on the interior design needs, intent and emotional qualities of design
• Support program timing by delivering high quality design proposals with speed and efficiency and proactively look for process efficiencies
• Collect and provide inspiration for the team – keep up to speed with the market / trends/ competitors

What you\'ll bring

You would carry a Bachelor or Master Degree in Design in transportation / automotive design. You shall express a high level of creativity through visual communication skills including: manual sketching, digital sketching, digital rendering, clay tape drawing and surface knowledge. You have advanced skills in Maya or blender polygon modelling, Alias Automotive Studio, VRed, VR, Photoshop, PPT and other visual medias as well aknowledge of design quality, themes, proportions and surface execution. You carry an advanced level or storytelling, organization skills and presentation skills both verbally and in graphic form. You should bring more than 5 years’ experience in the field of automotive design as well as be fluent English communication skills. You may have periodic travel, including the potential for international travel for full time employees.
