Job summary

Karolinska Institutet in Solna seeks a part-time Research Assistant to investigate epigenetics of smoking in Multiple Sclerosis. You will join a collaborative team of PhD students and senior researchers, performing NGS library preparation and CRISPR-based editing, with bioinformatics support to interpret transcriptional changes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Background in human diseases, autoimmunity and nervous processes.
• Knowledge of gene regulation and epigenetics.
• Experience with basic molecular and cellular work (cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, cell culture, transfection).
• Practical experience with NGS library preparation, including DNA methylation and gene expression.
• Programming in R for NGS-derived analyses in bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing.
• Good command of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Decipher MS pathogenesis with a focus on smoking impact on neuroinflammation.
• Perform NGS library prep on clinical and experimental samples.
• Conduct CRISPR/dCas9-epigenome editing in vitro and analyse results.
• Carry out bioinformatic analyses under guidance of senior bioinformatician.
