Job Description
Purpose of the role
The Enterprise Architect defines and governs enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, and capability models to enable digital transformation. This role ensures alignment between business objectives and technology decisions, driving consistency, scalability, and innovation across the organization.
All roles within the digital delivery organization are focusing on delivering digital solutions and support for the transformation workstreams. The roles are expected to work with the entire CDO including close collaboration with their respective counterpart roles within ITOPS to ensure stable operations and smooth transition from existing to future landscape.
Accountabilities
- Establishes and maintains the enterprise architecture framework (e.g., reference architectures, design patterns, integration standards) that considers business architecture aligns with business goals.
- Defines and maintains global business architecture frameworks (e.g., capability models, process frameworks) in tandem with technical reference architectures to ensure alignment process and technology.
- Reviews and validates major architectural proposals from Domain Architects and Business Process Analysts, identifying deviations or areas for improvement; evaluates business process designs for overlapping capabilities, redundancies, conflicts.
- Enforces adherence to security, data privacy, and compliance requirements in solution designs.
- Keeps architecture documentation current, accessible, and reflective of global best practices.
- Analyzes emerging technologies and trends, proposing updates to architecture standards as needed.
- Coordinates with Cyber Security Lead, Platform Architect, and Global Head of Data to address cross-cutting concerns (e.g., security, performance, data governance).
- Guides solution-level architects in best practices for system interoperability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Resolves architecture conflicts or escalations, in collaboration with SVP Digital Governance & Architecture.
Knowledge and skills
Hard/Content Skills
- Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, patterns, and methodologies (e.g., microservices, integration standards).
- Deep expertise in business process modeling (BPM) and enterprise capability frameworks.
- Ability to review and validate major architectural proposals from workstream architects, identifying deviations or areas for improvement.
- Skilled in enforcing security, data privacy, and compliance requirements in solution designs.
- Strong analytical mindset to evaluate emerging technologies, proposing updates to architectural standards as needed.
Domain Expertise
- Deep understanding of WalWil’s business processes (shipping operations, commercial models, back-office functions, etc.) and how they interconnect.
- Understanding of cross-functional dependencies across multiple transformation workstreams.
Soft/Leadership Skills
- Clear communication to articulate architectural decisions and rationale to a range of stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset to influence and educate Domain Architects without direct authority.
- Analytical abilities to spot overlaps, redundancies, or conflicts in processes across multiple domains.
- Ability to balance global standards with local customization needs, ensuring overall coherence.
Required Experience
- Advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years in enterprise architecture or technical leadership roles, covering large-scale, complex system landscapes.
