Electronics Engineer (Embedded & Quality Control)
Sunmedic AB

Do you want to work in a technically advanced industrial operation within medical technology, where the focus is on electronics development, embedded systems, and quality-driven solutions for wound care and infection prevention technology? We are now looking for an Electronics Engineer with experience in embedded systems and quality control who wants to take a key role in the development, testing, and quality assurance of our electronic medical devices. Sunmedic is a Swedish medical device manufacturer focused on products such as the VivereX™ NPWT system and advanced dressings and foams.

The Role

In this role, you are responsible for developing, verifying, and quality-assuring the electronics and embedded software in Sunmedic's medical devices, with a particular focus on the VivereX™ NPWT system. You work close to the business and play a key role in ensuring reliable product performance, high quality, and compliance with medical device standards and regulations. The work is carried out in close collaboration with several functions within the organization, including production, quality, regulatory affairs, and maintenance.

The role involves both development work and hands-on engagement in testing, troubleshooting, and quality control, with significant scope to influence technical solutions, design choices, and ways of working in order to deliver safe and quality-assured products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve electronics designs (hardware) and embedded software/firmware for medical devices
  • Design, perform, and document verification and validation testing of electronics and embedded systems
  • Be responsible for quality control of electronic components and finished products, including incoming inspection, functional testing, and non-conformance management
  • Ensure that electronics development and testing are carried out in accordance with medical device requirements and standards (e.g. ISO 13485, IEC 60601, IEC 62304).
  • Establish and maintain technical documentation, traceability, and design history (DHF/risk analysis)
  • Provide technical support in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization of electronics-related processes in production
  • Participate in supplier evaluation and quality follow-up of electronic components
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, maintenance, and technical specialists, as well as clinical and regulatory functions

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in electronics development and embedded systems, e.g. microcontroller-based design, firmware development (C/C++), sensors, and circuit design
  • Experience in quality control, testing, and verification of electronic products, preferably within medical technology or another regulated industry
  • Knowledge of medical device standards and regulations (e.g. ISO 13485, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, MDR) is highly meritorious
  • Accustomed to combining analytical work with hands‑on problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Works in a structured, meticulous, and documentation-conscious manner with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement
  • Communicative and comfortable collaborating across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment with a focus on quality, safety, and traceability
