Job description

We are a research team in Lund that works on what comes next for consumer devices. Smartphones, smartglasses, smart watches, earbuds, headsets, and form factors that do not have a name yet. Our job is to explore what these devices could do, build things that prove it, and articulate the ideas clearly enough that others believe in them too.

Join our Team

We are a research team in Lund that works on what comes next for consumer devices. Smartphones, smartglasses, smart watches, earbuds, headsets, and form factors that do not have a name yet. Our job is to explore what these devices could do, build things that prove it, and articulate the ideas clearly enough that others believe in them too.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely curious about technology and restless enough to do something about it. You get an idea and you build it. That might mean writing code, 3D printing a sensor mount, strapping something to a device to see if it works, or throwing together an interactive demo. You are as comfortable tinkering in the physical world as you are in a code editor. You probably have a project running at home that nobody asked for.

You will have a real role in shaping what our XR Lab explores next, and you will work in a small team of senior researchers where your ideas carry weight from day one.

What You Will Do
  • Explore what connected consumer devices can do that they do not do yet, across mobile phones, smartglasses, smart watches, earbuds, headsets, smart implants, and whatever comes after.
  • Build prototypes by combining off-the-shelf sensors, 3D printed parts, and software to try out new ideas on real devices.
  • Build interactive demos to communicate and validate concepts.
  • Take a leading role in the XR Lab, driving experiments and defining what the lab works on.
  • Write up research findings, concepts, and ideas clearly and compellingly, and present them to internal stakeholders.
  • Scout emerging technology and stay close to where consumer devices and human-computer interaction are heading.
What You Will Bring
  • A maker mentality: you build things to understand things, at whatever level the idea demands.
  • Solid coding skills, with Python as your main language and the range to pick up whatever a project needs.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow. This is a real requirement, not a nice-to-have.
  • Experience building interactive prototypes, ideally in Unity or a similar real-time environment.
  • Comfort working with physical prototyping, sensors, and rapid iteration at the device level.
  • Genuine curiosity about connected consumer devices and where human-computer interaction is going.
  • The ability to articulate novel ideas clearly in writing and make a convincing case for them to a technical audience.
  • A self-propelled drive: you take ownership from first sketch to working demo without needing someone to push you.
Deadline:

18.09.2026
