• Extensive hands-on PostgreSQL DBA/Database Engineer experience.

We are seeking an Experienced Database Engineer with strong hands‑on PostgreSQL expertise to support a large‑scale Oracle‑to‑PostgreSQL database migration initiative.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the end‑to‑end migration of database services, ensuring platform stability, application compatibility, performance, and operational continuity. You will work closely with application developers, database engineers, and other technical stakeholders to design, validate, optimize, and document migration activities.

This role is best suited to a PostgreSQL‑focused DBA or Database Engineer who has practical experience with database modernization and migration projects and can work independently within an established migration framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and actively contribute to the end‑to‑end migration of Oracle database services to PostgreSQL.
• Ensure database stability, reliability, performance, and continuity throughout the migration process.
• Translate application and service requirements into effective and scalable database designs.
• Act as a technical bridge between application development teams and database engineering teams.
• Review and validate database schemas, configurations, data models, and application‑level database interactions.
• Assess Oracle‑to‑PostgreSQL compatibility, including data types, database features, configurations, and migration considerations.
• Identify migration gaps, technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of database‑related issues during migration and post‑migration activities.
• Validate database performance and ensure migrated services meet required technical and operational standards.
• Work with development teams to ensure applications interact correctly and efficiently with PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to database change management and schema versioning using Liquibase or similar tools.
• Develop and maintain clear technical documentation covering migration approaches, lessons learned, best practices, and repeatable processes.
• Help establish reusable standards and processes for future database modernization and migration initiatives.
• Work autonomously while collaborating effectively with engineering, development, and database teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive hands‑on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, PostgreSQL Database Engineer, or PostgreSQL‑focused Developer.
• Proven experience delivering Oracle‑to‑PostgreSQL migration projects.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, administration, configuration, performance, and troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of Oracle database concepts, particularly data types, schema structures, compatibility considerations, and migration challenges.
• Practical experience assessing and resolving Oracle‑to‑PostgreSQL compatibility issues.
• Experience with database schema design, validation, and application‑to‑database interactions.
• Familiarity with Liquibase or similar database schema versioning and change‑management tools.
• Ability to work independently within an established migration framework.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across development and database engineering teams.

Additional Qualifications

The following experience will be considered an advantage:

• Experience supporting Java applications that interact with PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to distributed systems and event‑driven architectures, such as Kafka or Solace.
• Experience with high‑traffic, low‑downtime database migrations.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development and engineering workflows, such as Cursor or Claude‑based agents.
• Experience developing migration automation, repeatable processes, or database modernization tooling.
• Experience working in complex enterprise‑scale technology environments.
