Billerud is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Global Advanced Analytics team in Sweden. You will work across the analytics lifecycle, solving business challenges with advanced analytics and AI, and translating insights into business value.

The role offers opportunities across multiple locations including Frövi and Solna, with a focus on scalable, integrated solutions. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data science, strong Python/SQL skills, and proficiency in Swedish and English.

Job Description

We are now looking for a Data Scientist to join our Global Advanced Analytics team. The team plays a key role in accelerating the use of advanced analytics and AI across Billerud. Together with business stakeholders, technical experts, and IT teams, you will solve complex business challenges and transform data into measurable business value.

As a Data Scientist in the Global Advanced Analytics team, you will work with a broad range of business areas within Billerud and across the full analytics lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and exploring data to developing, deploying, and integrating advanced analytical solutions into business processes.

The position can be located in Grums, Frövi, Skärblacka, Gävle, Karlsborg or Solna.

Your Main Tasks Will Be
  • Solve business problems using advanced analytics, machine learning, optimization, and AI.
  • Develop and deploy predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Translate analytical insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify use cases, define objectives, business value, and success criteria’s.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and integrated into business operations.
  • Contribute to data platform, analytics and AI architectures, standards, and best practices.
  • Share knowledge and support capability building across the organization.

Qualifications
To succeed in this position, we believe you have:
  • University degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum five years of experience within data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, optimization, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL or equivalent.
  • Experience working throughout the full analytics lifecycle, from problem definition and data exploration to modelling, validation, and implementation.
  • Ability to translate business challenges into analytical solutions and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Professional proficiency in Swedish and English
Meritorious
  • PhD or postgraduate education
  • Experience with cloud-based analytics environments such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience with generative AI, AI agents, or other modern AI technologies.
  • Knowledge of data platform architecture, MLOps processes, or software development practices.
  • Experience from manufacturing, process industry, or other industrial environments.
