Job description
About Sweetspot

Sweetspot is the data-driven caddie for golf facilities - combining bookings, subscriptions, dynamic pricing, and player engagement into one powerful platform. We turn insights into action to help facilities optimise performance, maximise revenue, and deliver exceptional player experiences.

Founded in 2017 and with over 350 000 users in 12 countries and 500+ golf facilities, we’re on a mission to lead the data-driven transformation of golf. Over the next 12 months, we’re embarking on a significant rebuild of our data architecture - reimagining the way we collect, process, and use data to drive smarter decisions across the golf industry.

Let us tell you more about this opportunity

We’re seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Data Engineer to join our growing tech team. This is a key role in shaping the future of our data platform - from streamlining infrastructure to enabling smarter insights for facility operators and internal teams.

This isn’t a “maintain-the-status-quo” role. You’ll be central to reworking how we ingest, model, and expose data across the organisation, helping us move faster and build more intelligently.

What you’ll do
  • Rebuild our data pipelines – Audit and re-engineer our existing data flows to improve scalability, resilience, and performance.
  • Design modern data architecture – Own the design and implementation of data models and storage strategies that support reporting, analytics, and product features.
  • Enable smarter insights – Partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to make sure the right data is available, accurate, and actionable.
  • Build for customer needs – Talk to customers, understand their problems to ensure we build the data flows and analysis that creates value in both daily operations and strategy decisions.
  • Champion data governance – Introduce and evolve best practices for data quality, documentation, versioning, and compliance.
  • Drive automation – Replace manual processes with robust, automated solutions to increase efficiency and reduce operational friction.
  • Build for impact – Everything we do is commercial. Your work will directly influence revenue generation, player engagement, and strategic decision-making across our customer base.
What we’re looking for

You’re a Data Engineer with a product mindset - someone who cares about outcomes, not just pipelines. You take ownership, stay curious, and enjoy taking lead in improving what exists and rebuilding where it makes a difference. You collaborate naturally across teams, technical or not.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have a couple of years of experience in a modern data environment and bring:

  • Solid experience building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT), with dbt as your go-to tool.
  • Strong skills in SQL and a solid understanding of data modelling best practices (e.g. star/snowflake schemas).
  • Proficiency in Python, along with knowledge of software engineering practices such as version control and CI/CD.
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar.
Why join Sweetspot?
  • Work with purpose – help redefine an entire industry through data.
  • Have real impact – this is a core role, not a cog-in-the-machine position.
  • Collaborate with sharp, mission-driven teammates.
  • Join a company that’s serious about having fun while being relentlessly focused on outcomes.
  • Shape our data future – your work lays the foundation for the next generation of insights in golf.
Let’s build the future of golf data together
