Job summary

Odevo AB is looking for a Data Engineer to join our Global Data & BI team and build the pipelines powering the Odevo Data Warehouse. Working within a Microsoft Fabric architecture, you will ingest data from many source systems across our operating companies, model it into trusted datasets, and keep it flowing to dashboards and data products used by the business.

You will model data for analytics, ensure data quality and governance, and collaborate with BI developers and stakeholders to translate

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of hands-on data engineering experience building production data pipelines.
  • Strong SQL and Python for data manipulation and ingestion.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure equivalents (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks).
  • Experience with data warehousing, ELT and dimensional modeling.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps.
  • Awareness of GDPR and data security practices.
  • Nice to have: Power BI consumption experience and consolidating data across entities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ingestion pipelines in Fabric Data Factory across APIs, databases, SaaS platforms and file-based feeds, including incremental and change data capture patterns.
  • Develop and test transformation models across the Bronze, Silver and Gold layers (medallion architecture), following the team's modelling standards and naming conventions.
  • Model data for analytical consumption - dimensional models, slowly changing dimensions, and handling multi-entity, multi-currency and multi-country data.
  • Operate what you build: monitor pipeline health, investigate and fix failures, respond to source schema changes, and improve reliability and run cost.
  • Implement data quality tests and validation rules in pipelines, working to the standards set by our Data Enablement squad.
  • Prepare and document governed datasets for the Published layer, so that BI developers, semantic models and downstream applications can consume them with confidence.
  • Work within our engineering workflow - version control and CI/CD in Azure DevOps, peer review, secrets management in Azure Key Vault, and clear documentation of pipelines and lineage.
  • Work directly with BI developers and business stakeholders to understand what the data is for, and translate that into pipelines and models that answer the actual question.

Job description

We are on a mission to become the leading international force in residential property management. What we do matters to billions of people in their everyday lives.

Residential real estate is the world’s largest asset class, and for most families, buying a home is the single biggest financial decision they will ever make. For too long, residential property management has fallen short of homeowners' and residents' expectations, and the industry is ready for change. Odevo was formed to make that change happen.

In just six years, Odevo has grown more than 70-fold, establishing us as the leading international player. We are more than 14,000 people across the US, the UK, the Nordics, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Italy building Odevo. Together, we aspire to break new ground through innovation and cultivate a workplace where we help each other succeed, where ideas matter more than titles, and where kindness is a strength.

By combining the power of people and technology, we set a new standard for how homes are managed. Our technology-enabled services simplify living for residents and create a better experience for property owners and boards.

Our ambition is to continue our fast-growing journey through new customers, service expansion, and by partnering with great companies that share our mindset and ambition, both in existing and new markets.

As we continue to grow, we stay true to who we are, challenge unnecessary bureaucracy, and keep decision-making close to our customers.

If you share our mindset and ambition, we’d love you to join us and help accelerate our mission together.

About the role

As a Data Engineer in our Global Data & BI team, you will build and operate the pipelines that power the Odevo Data Warehouse (ODW). Working within an established Microsoft Fabric architecture, you'll ingest data from the many source systems used across our operating companies, model it into trusted, reusable datasets, and keep it flowing reliably to the dashboards and data products our business depends on.

Key responsibilities

Who you are

You're a pragmatic builder who gets things into production. You're comfortable with messy, undocumented source systems and enjoy the detective work of figuring out what the data actually means. You take ownership of the pipelines you build rather than handing them over, you ask what a dataset is for before you build it, and you can explain what you've done to someone who doesn't work in data. You want to work somewhere the data platform is still being built out, rather than somewhere it's already finished.

Experience
  • 2-4 years' hands-on data engineering experience building and maintaining production data pipelines.

  • Strong SQL, and Python for data manipulation, automation and API-based ingestion.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse Data Warehouse / Lakehouse, OneLake) - or with the Azure equivalents such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Databricks, and the appetite to move onto Fabric quickly.

  • Practical experience transformation framework and a solid grasp of modular, tested SQL modelling.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, ELT and dimensional modelling.

  • Comfortable working with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines, ideally Azure DevOps.

  • Awareness of data protection and security practice - GDPR, handling of personal data, role-based access - applied to the data you work with.

  • Nice to have: experience integrating newly acquired businesses or consolidating data across multiple legal entities; exposure to Power BI as a consumer of your models.

What Success Looks Like in Your First Six Months
  • You've independently onboarded a new source system into the Bronze and Silver layers, from first connection through to a tested, documented model.

  • You're the go-to person for two or three pipelines, including keeping them running.

  • You've built at least one Gold-layer dataset that a BI developer or stakeholder is actively using for reporting.

  • You're contributing to code review and raising improvements to how the team works, not just consuming the standards.

What we offer
  • Professional growth - to work with the most talented developers in the industry.
  • Modern technology - we invest in the latest technologies and tools and encourage our team members to share their ideas and take ownership of their work.
  • Innovation - to work on exciting projects that push the boundaries of our industry and make a real impact.
  • Commitment to quality - a dynamic and forward-thinking company that values profitable and long-term product development.
