Job summary

Careium seeks a Data Engineer to help shape and build a modern data and delivery platform from the ground up. You will work closely with software developers and the wider organization to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and structured for the future.

Day-to-day you will help implement and expand our central data lake and warehouse, build ETL/ELT pipelines, and enable real-time alarm data and user activity through an event-driven platform.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer in the platform team, you will be the driving force behind our data infrastructure. You will work closely with both software developers and the wider organization to ensure that our data is accessible, reliable, and structured for the future.

Day to day you will be working with things like:

• Implementing and expanding our central data lake and data warehouse, building upon the completed initial design and its main components.
• Setting up and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from various internal and external sources.
• Continuing the groundwork of our event-driven platform enabling real-time alarm data and user activity.
• Moving existing data integrations and legacy data streams onto the new modern platform.
• Getting data documentation, a data catalogue, and data governance frameworks in place.
• Collaborating with DevOps colleagues in the team to automate data infrastructure deployments and monitoring.
• Coaching developers and analysts in data engineering best practices and efficient querying.

Who We Are Looking For

You should have solid hands-on experience from a Data Engineering role and a genuine interest in cloud architecture, data modeling, and streaming data. Since you will be part of a platform team, a DevOps mindset regarding automation, containerization, and infrastructure as code is a big plus.

It helps if you have worked with tools like:

• Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent.
• AWS, or other cloud providers.
• Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent.
• Streaming and event-hub technologies like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS Kinesis.
• Data transformation and orchestration tools (dbt, Apache Airflow, or similar) as well as modern data warehousing.

Just as important as the technical side, you communicate well, you are easy to work with, and you bring a calm, structured approach when things get complicated. You follow through on what you commit to, and you are not afraid to flag when something is not working.
