We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help build and evolve our Data Hub -the foundation for trusted, reusable and near real-time data across Logistics, Shipping, Operations, Inventoryand Finance.
The Data Hub enables forward-looking insights such as predicting volume flows, monitoring capacity constraints and identifying congestion risks. By providing standardized and governed data products, it supports faster decision-making and more efficient operations across the logistics network.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of data engineering, platform development and business enablement, turning complex data from multiple systems into scalable and reusable data products. This means not only building strong technical solutions, but also working with stakeholders across different parts of the organization to understand how data is used, translate business needs into technical requirements and help teams make effective use of the data products you build.
You will design, build and operate scalable data pipelines and transformations primarily within Microsoft Fabric and Azure, with a strong focus on production quality, reliability and reuse.
A key part of the role is developing reusable data models and core business entities such as Cargo, Capacity and Voyage, aligned with the enterprise data model. You will help establish consistent patterns across the Data Hub, including medallion architecture, data contracts, observability and governed interfaces.
You will also contribute to near real-time and event-driven data patterns where relevant, helping enable low-latency use cases across initiatives such as Network Visibility, Integrated Enterprise Planning and Demand Forecasting.
Working closely with architects, platform teams, product and initiative teams, and stakeholders across the business, you will help turn operational and analytical needs into well-designed data solutions. You are comfortable discussing requirements with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, asking the right questions and helping clarify what data is needed and how it should be structured.
You will help ensure that data is easy to consume, well documented and delivered through scalable platform patterns while balancing immediate business needs with long-term architectural principles and reuse.
You have strong hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory or similar cloud data platforms.
You are highly proficient in SQL and have strong programming skills in Python or a similar language, with experience building scalable data transformations and reusable data models across multiple data sources.
You have a solid understanding of lakehouse architecture, Delta/Parquet formats, batch and streaming patterns, as well as the operational aspects of running data solutions in production.
Experience with CI/CD, version control and automated deployment, using GitHub or similar tools, is also important.
You approach data engineering with a strong ownership mindset and build for reliability, maintainability and reuse rather than one-off delivery.
In addition to your technical expertise, you are comfortable working across different functions and levels of the organization. You can communicate complex data concepts in a clear and pragmatic way, understand different stakeholder perspectives and translate business and operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
You don't need every requirement to be fully defined before getting started. You are able to explore a problem together with stakeholders, challenge assumptions where needed and use your technical expertise to help shape the right solution.
Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming technologies such as Event Hubs, API-based integration patterns or decoupled architectures is highly valuable.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management and tools such as Microsoft Purview is also relevant.
Experience from logistics, shipping, supply chain or other operationally complex industries is a strong advantage, particularly if you have worked closely with operational or business stakeholders to translate complex processes into data products or analytical solutions.
Success in this role means making high-quality data easier and faster to use across the organization. You will help reduce the time it takes to deliver new data products, increase reuse across teams and improve data quality, freshness and reliability.
You will also help create a stronger connection between the Data Hub and the teams using its data ensuring that technical solutions solve meaningful business problems while remaining scalable and reusable across the organization. Most importantly, you will contribute to a scalable Data Hub where teams can build on trusted data instead of repeatedly creating the same solutions from scratch.
