emagine is seeking a Concept Engineer (Design Mechanical Engineer) to drive early and late concept work, build prototypes, and validate designs across engineering, design, pilot plant and manufacturing.

You will collaborate with workshops and multi-team environments, using Catia V5 and TcE/VPDS knowledge to ensure end-to-end delivery and traceable documentation.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience and knowledge of prototype/test objects.
  • Strong design engineering background with experience in documentation and TcE/VPDS.

Responsibilities

  • Work in early/late concept phases and build prototypes and test equipment for validation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Pilot Plant and Manufacturing for end-to-end delivery.
  • Collaborate with workshops and prototype production environments (milling, composites, sheet metal, casting, painting, molding, upholstery, 3D printing).
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and meetings to align schedules and technical direction.
  • Ensure construction documents are traceable in Team Center Engineering and project docs.
  • Provide technical support and representation in prototype construction.
  • Develop concepts based on new requirements and explore new methods and materials.

Job description

We are now looking for a Concept Engineer (Design Mechanical Engineer).

What You’ll Do

You will work within early and late concept phases and build prototypes and test equipment for Engineering, Design, Pilot Plant and Manufacturing, supporting their need for technical and physical validation.

The assignments combine mechanical design with data from cross-functional inputs, as well as multi-team coordination with a strong focus on end-to-end delivery. The role involves close collaboration with workshops and different prototype production environments, including milling, composite lamination, sheet metal, vacuum casting, paint shop, injection molding, upholstery and 3D printing/additive manufacturing. You will collaborate with engineers within assignments and coordinate material flows related to your work involving project planning and coordination, contributing to ensuring that deliveries and plans align with Concept Centre’s technical direction and objectives.

Main tasks
  • CAD-modeling (Catia V5), utilize advanced CAD software to create models for concept.
  • Construction of prototype tools for details in concept production.
  • Together with the Project Management Concept Center, establish and if necessary, update the schedule for the project's construction work.
  • With the project team, plan which building and construction solutions are to be applied in the project.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the construction documents are traceable in the process (Team Center Engineering and project documentation).
  • Act as technical support and representative in prototype construction.
  • Conceptual system solutions based on new and future requirements (Technique/material).
  • Technology and method development.
Competence Requirements/profile
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or equivalent education.
  • Professional experience in prototyping 5 years.
  • Very good CAD skills (Catia V.5).
  • Proven knowledge in the field of design engineering and engineering template work.
  • Material knowledge prototypes/test objects.
  • Knowledge Team Center Engineering (TcE).
  • Knowledge of product development VCC (VPDS).
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and meetings within different areas.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to operate in a frequently changing environment.
  • Collaborate proactively with engineering and design teams to ensure cross-functional delivery.
  • Have a mindset needed when the way of working is not set and needs to be developed.
  • Be able to see opportunities and new ways of working that are beneficial for the company.
  • Good knowledge in English.
