Job summary

Apica is seeking a driven Business Controller to own financial planning and analysis across the US, EMEA, and APAC. You will drive ARR reporting, gross margin optimization, and product profitability while partnering with Sales, Product & Tech, and Operations.

The role emphasizes automation, data-driven insights, and scalable processes in a global software environment. You will work closely with a finance team, leverage AI tools like Claude Cowork to accelerate automation, and report to the CFO

Qualifications

• A finance degree with 3–5 years of experience in controlling.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI) and with gross profit/product profitability models.
• Experience with subscription business models or ARR-based reporting.
• Experience in an international business environment.
• Fluent in English; strong communication and collaboration skills.

The Role

Apica is looking for an ambitious finance professional to become its new Business Controller. The role includes supporting Apica's operations across the US, EMEA, and APAC. It spans sales controlling, FinOps and cloud optimization, and the pursuit of strong gross margins and product profitability.

You will independently drive automation, structure, and scalability. You will be expected to use Claude Cowork as a primary AI tool to accelerate automation and information sharing. At Apica, we believe AI is integral to improvement when used by people who know what "good" looks like.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Apica's leadership team, primarily across Sales, Product & Tech, and Operations. You will be the key person ensuring that leaders receive the right insights about their functions' performance and how they can successfully reach their targets.
• Analyze ARR, revenue recognition, and customer contract data quality. You will work closely with—and oversee—a finance colleague who manages the daily Order-to-Cash process.
• Owner of Maxio, Apica's ARR and customer contract application, ensuring accurate setup, maintenance, and reporting.
• Support the Sales team with customer renewals, quote reviews, and pipeline analytics.
• Collaborate closely with the Operations team to understand and optimize all cloud environments across our cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, and OCI), supporting healthy gross margins and accurate product profitability calculations.
• Own Apica's product profitability calculations and COGS model, including the gross margin model.
• Together with the CFO and Finance team, prepare monthly Board and investor decks.
• Together with the CFO, prepare annual budgets and monthly rolling 12-month forecasts.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with the following background, skills, and mindset:

• A degree in finance combined with 3-5 years of experience in controlling.
• Experience in companies with high utilization of cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, and OCI) and with gross profit and product profitability models, preferably in a software company.
• Experience with subscription business models or ARR-based reporting.
• Experience working in an international business environment.
• A solid understanding of AI technologies and their application to finance.
• You are tech-savvy, curious about learning new tools, and eager to improve how they are used. You also believe systems are an important instrument for continuous improvement.
• A proactive self-starter with a can-do attitude, strong ownership, and high attention to detail.
• You are collaborative, a team player, and comfortable working across geographies and time zones.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
