Job summary

Deploja is seeking a seasoned back-end engineer to join our consulting practice in Malmö. You will work on customer-facing web services, focusing on Java, concurrency, and distributed systems to deliver reliable software for our clients.

Qualifications include 5+ years of production experience, deep Java knowledge, and experience with Netty, Cassandra/Redis, and CI/CD workflows. Fluency in English is required; Swedish not necessary.

• Experience with CI/CD tooling and automated testing.
• Fluent English communication.

We now have a new requirement and are looking for a consultant colleague with the qualifications listed below. The position is part of our consulting business, which means you will be employed by us and work either with clients or on internal projects and assignments.

Your Profile (Must-have requirements)

• Strong production experience as a back-end engineer, typically 5+ years.
• Deep Java knowledge, including memory model, garbage collection, allocation pressure and concurrency.
• Experience with java.util.concurrent, virtual threads and/or reactive models.
• Proven experience building and scaling customer-facing web services.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, availability, reliability and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, consistency, partitioning and failure modes.
• Experience with data storage and caching technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, memcached or similar.
• Experience building REST-based services using Netty or similar frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and automated testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Meritorious

• Knowledge of cryptography standards and protocols such as PKCS, KMIP, X.509, AES, KDF or CA.
• Experience with key handling, privacy-preserving systems or security-critical platforms.
• Familiarity with ML systems, frameworks or algorithms.
• Experience with GitHub, Maven, Docker, Spinnaker and Kubernetes.
