Job summary

Huxley is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a product-focused team building a modern planning platform. The team is creating a user-friendly, production-ready planning entry point while developing the integrations and services that power the wider ecosystem.

This role is ideal for an engineer who understands how information flows between systems and enjoys building clean, scalable solutions within an existing architecture.

Qualifications

• Backend experience with Node.js and/or Java.
• Proficient REST API design and OpenAPI.
• DevOps experience including CI/CD.
• Experience building production-ready solutions within existing architectures.
• Strong collaboration with product, business and UX teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services using Node.js and/or Java.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Build integrations between multiple systems and tools.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and ensure solutions align with the broader platform vision.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Work closely with product, business and UX teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Support the development of reusable business rules, algorithms and planning logic.
• Improve system reliability, performance, observability and scalability.
• Contribute to AI-assisted, specification-driven development methodologies.
